Mid Ohio Sports Car Course Rounds 11 and 12

Rounds 11 and 12 were held at the very popular Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Thursday was a promoter test day, allowing the team to dial in both the car and driver for a successful weekend of racing. Fridays first official practice session saw Mark in P7, a great start! Qualifying was up next, and the Tender Belly McLaren finish P15, not the best effort but in these 50 minute races there is a lot of time to make up ground.

Round 11 was started with the normal rolling start and the green is waved on the back straight to prevent large crashes in the first turn. It didn’t help, as a large crash happened anyway, resulting in a 30 minute yellow flag period.  With just 20 minutes to go the green flew once again.  Mark was moving up nicely when he was taken out in the Keyhole by a competitor who bombed through the grass and hit the car next to him, which hit him. The car sustained too much damage to continue.  The crew was able to secure the necessary parts from GMG and worked late getting the McLaren back into racing trim.

Round 12 saw Mark starting P13 with another rolling start because of the layout of the track. Mark excels at the standing starts that are the norm on the second day but made a good start anyway, picking up a few positions. He battled hard throughout the 50 minute race and ended up in P13, just where he started.

Many thanks to our great sponsors, Tender Belly (Certified Awesome!), Premiere Copier, and Racing Radios.  We are headed next to the Utah Motorsports Campus near Salt Lake City, Utah, August 11-12, 2017.
